@Established in 1979 by the late Prefectural Governor, Tanabe Choemon XXIII, this museum displays the family treasures of twenty five generations of the Izumo region's Tanabe clan. The primary display centers around tea bowls, holders and other implements used in the tea ceremony. In character with its natural surroundings, the building, designed by Kikutake Kiyonori, makes optimum use of light, shadow, and patina to create a quiet, sober atmosphere and a feeling of spaciousness.
