This museum was opened on
the banks of Lake Shinji in 1999, with the theme 'In harmony with water'.
There have been exhibitions of pictures by Japanese artists and international
artists such as Monet and Courbet that have water as the theme, and there
has also been an exhibit of sculptures by Rodan. In addition, exhibitions
by artists connected with Shimane Prefecture, and also collections of prints
and photographs by Japanese and international artists have also been displayed.
In the Museum shop there is a wide selection of original goods. As the museum
is by the lakeside, it is also a perfect spot from which to view the famed
Lake Shinji sunset, and from March to September, it is open for 30 minutes
after the sun sets. |
