A cultural event such as this is only to be expected in such a tea-loving area as Matsue. The tea party is held in or around October every year in Matsue Shiroyama Park. Tea ceremony schools from Shimane and other nearby prefectures perform tea ceremonies for guests. Those with no previous knowledge of tea ceremony and dressed in everyday clothing are welcome to enjoy a bowl of tea at an outdoor picnic-style nodate ceremony and stroll through the grounds of Matsue Castle.
