The former Bank of Japan
Matsue Branch building was restored and then reopened with a handicraft
theme as the Kara-Koro Workshop, a craft center containing both production
and sales facilities. Visitors can observe artisans working with glass,
agate, ceramics, silver, old fabrics, and wood in the workshop, and try
their hands at various crafts in the handicraft classroom. A variety of
food and drink facilities are also available onsite, including a fresh bakery,
gelato stand, Izumo Soba (buckwheat noodles) shop, and French restaurant.
Below ground, the former Bank of Japan's vault has been converted into a
gallery. |
