Located in the western part
of Shiomi Nawate, the museum features an exhibition of over 1,000 items,
including 200 of Lafcadio Hearn's favorite personal effects. The display
includes such intriguing items as some of Hearn's handwritten manuscripts;
study notes written by Hearn's wife Setsu to help her memorize English words;
a custom-made writing desk with long legs for Hearn, who was partially blind
in his left eye; lamps, a pen tray; and the trunk Hearn carried with him
when he disembarked at Yokohama Port. |
